Straub Brewery: Great things are on tap in the Pennsylvania Wilds

In addition to promoting the Pennsylvania Wilds through its iconic brand, Straub is noted for its strong family and community ties – and there is cause for celebration as the brewery unveiled its new Visitor Center and Tap Room with a soft opening on June 19th. A grand opening celebration has been set for July 19th.

New location centralizes, streamlines Allegheny Outfitters’ operations

Allegheny Outfitters, located in Warren, Pennsylvania, recently moved and expanded operations from its small storefront canoe, kayak and backpacking shop on one end of Warren, and its livery side of operations on the other side of town, into one big building right on the banks of the Allegheny River downtown.

Timber Rattlesnakes in Pennsylvania

Hiking a state forest trail this time of year brings a higher probability of a snake encounter, and the timber rattlesnake is the species that people generally fear the most.  One of three venomous snakes that occur in PA, the timber rattler embodies the wild appeal of Penn’s Woods.

Coudersport’s 2019 Eliot Ness Fest is Ready to Roll

On a warm July weekend last year in the Pennsylvania Wilds Dark Skies landscape, the population of Coudersport nearly doubled for the inaugural three-day Eliot Ness Festival, paying homage to Coudersport’s most famous son. This year the three-day festival is set for July 19-21 in downtown Coudersport.

Celebrate Independence Day in the PA Wilds

Plenty of people celebrate the Fourth of July. On the day our country was founded, its citizens fill swimming pools, crack out their grills, open a beer, and gather with friends and family. Throughout the Pennsylvania Wilds, various cities and communities will hold festivals and events, almost all of which will conclude with bright fireworks displays.

The anniversary of Clinton County

Every community has a beginning. People don’t think about it, but each city and county has a starting date and an origin story. The thirteen counties in the Pennsylvania Wilds were founded between 1795 and 1863. Potter Tioga, McKean, Clearfield, and Jefferson were all founded in 1804. Lycoming was founded in 1795, and Centre County in 1800. And then, on June 21, 1839, parts of Lycoming and Centre were combined to make Clinton County.

Experience Art in the Wilds on June 22-23

During the fourth weekend in June, a group of fine artists and artisans assemble for the annual Art in the Wilds show.  Set up in the cool shade of Evergreen Park, Art in the Wilds showcases the natural setting and friendly small-town atmosphere of Kane, Pennsylvania. Driving to Kane, PA, visitors enjoy traveling through beautiful hardwood forests, taking in the lushness of summer in the Pennsylvania Wilds.
