PA State Laurel Festival, PA Wilds Initiative Share Common Bond

Did you know that Mountain Laurel is the designated flower for the Commonwealth of Pennsylvania? It begins to blossom in full this month and each year a special event is held in its honor right here in the Pennsylvania Wilds. Held in Wellsboro, the 77th PA State Laurel Festival will kick off on June 9 and run through June 17 this year.

Pennsylvania Firefly Festival: Mother Nature’s Fireworks on Full Display

Fireflies, who doesn't love them? The mere thought of them brings back vivid childhood memories of barefoot warm summer nights and a Mason jar with holes punched in the lid. One of the Pennsylvania Wilds most famous gatherings, The Pennsylvania Firefly Festival (PAFF) will celebrate the local firefly population during their 6th annual event on June 23 in Kellettville, PA, deep in the Allegheny National Forest’s Tionesta Creek Valley.

Hyner Trail Challenge: Equal parts myth, hardcore reality, and fun

On April 21, 2018, over 1,200 runners and hikers from all over the U.S. were welcomed by crisp temperatures and the beauty of the Pennsylvania Wilds in Clinton County as they toed the line to take on the Hyner Trail Challenge 25K & 50K, one of PA’s premiere trail events. One of those runners was Tyler Wagner, an outdoor enthusiast based out of Lycoming County.
