Bellefonte’s Fridays in the ‘Fonte more than just a community event 

Located within the “welcome mat” of The Pennsylvania Wilds along the I-80 Frontier, Bellefonte has seen a surge of economic-related activity in recent years. Community events have played a huge part in that activity. But when the organizers of Downtown Bellefonte Inc.’s Friday in the ‘Fonte event started hosting it on the last Friday of each month, it was about more than getting the community out to shop.

Visit the Austin Dam ruins August 22-24 for ‘Dam Stock’ festival

The Austin Dam Memorial Park will be the site of a three day festival celebrating the 50 year anniversary of Woodstock come August 22-24. The Austin Dam Show has been taking place for 15 years, but this year it is being billed as “Dam Stock,” nodding to the original “3 Days of Peace & Music” gathering that took place back in August of 1969.

On Saturday, August 17, those wishing to have a unique cultural experience are invited to attend the 4th Annual Lock Haven Jazz and Art on Main Street (LH JAMS) Festival. The LH JAMS Festival is a block-party style event that takes over Main Street in downtown Lock Haven, a picturesque I-80 Frontier community that is situated along the West Branch Susquehanna River.

July is Parks and Recreation Month across the nation. It’s the perfect time to celebrate and explore our public lands and take in the beauty of nature around us. In this rural region, over 2.1 million acres of public lands are protected and set aside for citizens and visitors to enjoy. The Pennsylvania Wilds boasts 29 state parks, eight state forests, and is home to the Commonwealth’s only national forest: the Allegheny National Forest.
