About Pine Creek Valley & The PA Grand Canyon
To start, a journey on the Pine Creek Rail Trail will awaken your perspective to the dynamic topography. Named by USA Today as one of the “10 great places to take a bike tour,” the 60-mile Rail Trail can be explored by bike or foot, ski or snowshoe, with specially designated areas for horseback riding, and hugs the Creek offering up scenic natural surroundings.

The Pine Creek Valley landscape is easy to explore by road trip with Scenic Route 6 connecting you to charming and traveler-friendly towns with accommodations like Wellsboro and college town Mansfield. Fuel up in advance before your journey along Rt. 414, a quintessential scenic drive with worthy stops like the valley villages of Slate Run and Waterville, which are on the rail trail. North of Route 6, The Valley also boasts noteworthy northern excursions, like the 407-acre Hills Creek State Park.
In the southern tier of the Valley, meeting with the I-80 Frontier, the eclectic college town of Lock Haven is a traveler-friendly entry point to the Pine Creek Valley via US Route 220 North. Just 25 miles further on Route 220 North is the city of Williamsport, with a uniquely Wilds-like urban atmosphere with locally inspired restaurants, breweries, and accommodations.
