Outfitting the PA Wilds: Mudbeard’s Bikes and Boards
Part of the Outfitting the PA Wilds series
When exploring the Little-Toby Rail Trail near Ridgway in the Elk Country landscape of the PA Wilds, Mudbeard’s Bikes and Boards can help you with all of the equipment you might need for your adventures… including even skateboards!
Mudbeard’s Bikes and Boards sells and rents bicycles, which is especially in demand around the local rail trail. They also offer bicycle repairs and servicing, so your exploration of the PA Wilds can continue even after a minor mishap.
Jason Armagost, the owner of Mudbeard’s, repaired bikes for another outfitter until that business closed. He continued the work as a side job until he decided to turn it into a full-time occupation, with more offerings than just bikes.

Jason’s expertise has enabled his company to have a couple unique elements. For one, he builds skateboards. You can come into the shop and get a skateboard that is already assembled, or you can watch as he builds the skateboard to your needs. There are different specifications based on whether you will be riding in the street or at the skatepark, and he will make whichever suits you.
Another extraordinary service of Mudbeard’s is that they service electric bikes, also known as “e-bikes,” which are becoming increasingly popular. This is one of the few shops in the area where you can have your e-bike repaired.
Mudbeard’s Bikes and Boards also carries fishing and camping supplies, and they rent cross-country skis in the winter. It’s truly a four-season shop!
Jason loves his town of Ridgway and will gladly give guidance to anyone who comes into Mudbeard’s about local trails, parks, public lands and other places they can explore and enjoy.
Mudbeard’s Bikes and Boards is a Field Guide member in the Experience Makers category of the Wilds Cooperative of Pennsylvania. Learn more about Mudbeard’s and leave them a review or recommendation on their WCO profile.
