Introducing the PA Wilds Breweries and Outfitters Series
Over the next few months, we’re taking time to highlight the businesses (and the people behind them!) that make our travels in the PA Wilds all the more enriching, thrilling, enjoyable, adventurous… and tasty!
Outfitters
Each Thursday, the PA Wilds Are Calling blog will spotlight an outfitter that is owned and operated within the PA Wilds, helping you explore in a safe yet unforgettable way.
The beauty of the PA Wilds is evident in its vast spaces of public lands and scenic waterways. With all of that open space, it’s easy to find an outdoor experience to enjoy! We’re fortunate that the PA Wilds not only has a wealth of outdoor experiences, but also bountiful outfitter businesses that can help you make the most of your adventures.
Regional outfitters and guides provide the expertise, equipment and services to help you explore the great outdoors safely. From backpacking and hiking, to paddle sports, mountain biking, rock-climbing and more… these outfitters offer plenty of opportunities to put your skills to the explore the outdoors and get your adrenaline pumping!
Maybe you’ve been having adventures outdoors all your life, but you just don’t want to carry your equipment with you and would rather rent it. Or maybe you’re new to an outdoor rec hobby and you’d like a little more hands-on help and guidance. However you choose to recreate, these outfitters can make your experience happen. Each provides an opportunity to become immersed in nature and find awe-inspiring views often overlooked or never seen from the roads most traveled.
Use these spotlights to learn more about the outfitter businesses in our region, their passion for the outdoors, and the equipment and guidance you can get when you stop there.
Breweries
Each Tuesday, the PA Wilds blog will spotlight a brewery that is owned and operated within the 13-county PA Wilds region.
As a wise hiker once told us, “Every trail should end with a beer.” We tend to agree! With all of the outdoor rec opportunities and brew pubs in our region, it’s easy to end an adventure with a side trip to a brewery to treat yourself, unwind, stretch your aching muscles and laugh with newfound friends.
Maybe you’re always on the hunt for an interesting craft brew and you carry a growler in your car to fill up on your travels. Or maybe you know what you like and stick with it, but you’re always happy to see a frosty glass after a difficult hike or paddle. Whether you enjoy a good lager, pilsner, porter, IPA, pale ale, wheat or any other kind of beer (or even if you’re partial to ciders), you’ll find a brewery that is a perfect stop along your PA Wilds journey.
These featured breweries are proud of what they do, and they’ll often go above and beyond to explain their brewing process or the tasting notes in your favorite beverage. In addition, most breweries serve a complimentary menu to go along with your drink, so you can enjoy creative pairings and dishes that are inspired by this rural region.
Use these brewery spotlights to learn more about the brewing businesses in the PA Wilds, their passion behind what they do, and the ales you can get when you stop there.
