July: Honoring Park and Recreation Professionals
July is Park and Recreation Month in Pennsylvania. As many Pennsylvanians head outside to parks, pools, and playgrounds, there’s no better time to celebrate the state’s many outdoor opportunities.
But those opportunities don’t maintain themselves. Pennsylvania’s amazing outdoor amenities owe a lot to the thousands of park and recreation employees who keep these facilities running.
July 15, 2022, was Park and Recreation Professionals Day. It’s a day to recognize the many people needed to keep outdoor recreation areas open, clean, and welcoming to everyone. Although the holiday itself might have already passed for this year, there is no time like the present to show your appreciation for those who take care of our outdoor spaces.
The benefits of these places—and the people who maintain them—are well documented. They support thriving economies. They boost physical and social health. And they help bring people and communities together.
To all the park and recreation professionals who care for our amazing outdoor resources:
Thank You.
