Fourth of July 2022: How PA Wilds Celebrates
The 4th of July, the Independence Day of the United State of America, is a time to celebrate our country and the people who live here. With hot weather and days off from work, many families spend the 4th of July holiday making memories in the outdoors and in the towns throughout the PA Wilds.
How does our PA Wilds region celebrate the 4th of July? Check out what events are happening in these towns!
Brockway
The Brockway Old-Fashioned 4th of July Celebration remains the largest non-carnival, family-oriented event of its kind in all of Western Pennsylvania. It combines a medley of events, including a patriotic program, the Tour de Brockway bike race, fun runs and races, car show, craft exhibition, many musical performances, children’s games, concessions to benefit non-profits, and of course a grand parade and spectacular fireworks to close out the night. Although some events are held in the days leading up to the holiday, most are held on the 4th of July itself.

Warren
If you’re hoping to celebrate the holiday all weekend long, Warren has you covered! Warren County’s 4th of July Celebration includes a food truck event and music at BETTS Park both Friday and Saturday, then a fireworks display on Sunday night, followed by even more events on Monday with a large parade with a special pre-parade show in the grandstands, plus a $500 grand prize drawing.
If you’re looking to see fireworks all weekend long, why not watch the display in Warren on Sunday night and catch more fireworks in another part of the PA Wilds the night of the 4th? There’s no reason why you can’t celebrate more than once!

There’s nothing quite like Squatchfest! This is one event you’ll have to see to believe.
The 4th of July is not the only thing that the town of Kane celebrates in the month of July. On July 8, it’s the second night in the Summer Night series. This evening is geared toward the adults. Participating retailers will be serving specialty cocktails and non-alcoholic mocktails from 5 to 8 p.m. Vote for your favorite drink! The best will win bragging rights and an obnoxiously fun trophy! Then just a week later, it’s Squatchfest in Kane! Squatchfest is an annual rain or shine, music festival held at the Kane Family Drive In Theater. This year’s event is on Saturday, July 16featuring incredible bands, fireworks, food, games, contests and prizes. They promise not to go home until they hear Sasquatch howling at the moon! Williamsport
Prepare to be wowed when you head to Williamsport for the 4th of July. This patriotic city really knows how to celebrate! Starting at 10 a.m. Monday, the world’s largest free-flying American flag will be raised. (Although there are larger ones in the world, this is the largest that flies freeing and is not tethered on all four corners.)
There is live music to enjoy throughout the afternoon, but the highlight of the night will be the music during the fireworks. Williamsport will celebrate the 29th annual “Set the Night to Music” fireworks spectacular. The explosions are timed to the musical feature, which can be heard on the Backyard Broadcasting stations.

Mansfield
Each year, the Tioga County 4th of July Celebration is held in Mansfield, bringing together people from around the area for a family-friendly event! Monday will start in Mansfield this year in a particularly meaningful way… a celebration of life ceremony from 10-2 for Jack Novak, a longtime staple in the Mansfield community and Mansfield Citizen of the Year in 1995 for his service to the town. He passed away in March at the age of 85.
The day will continue with the typical Mansfield celebration activities, including a bike decorating contest, two games with the Mansfield Destroyers, and of course fireworks at dusk.
