Cameron County has a Fall full of events
The calendar of events for Cameron County filling up for the fall season. Things kick off this weekend with the All Fired Up Kickin Ash BBQ Competition and Sinnemahone Gravel Grinder. Competitors will compete for trophies in 7 categories along with Peoples Choice. There are two unique twists to the competition according to Cameron County Chamber of Commerce Executive Director Tina Johns Solak.
“Competitors are encouraged to sell to those that come to the event. Many competitions limit it to tastings or in some cases people must purchase a ticket in order to eat from the competitors. The chamber wants the competitors to make money at this event.”
Another unique twist is a mystery meat competition. No one knows what they will be asked to prepare for judging. This year Valley Meats selected the item and competitors will learn their task on Friday night. Embassy Powdered Metals sponsoring the event by providing $500.00 cash prize.
While the grills are heating, more than 70 are expected to compete in the Sinnemahone Gravel Grinder. Three course lengths are available. The shortest is 14 miles along the West Creek Recreational Trail. A 26 mile course takes riders from Emporium to the intersection of Hunts Run and Ridge Roads along Elk State Forest Trails and the third 55 mile course starts in Emporium and includes riding through Sinnemahoning State Park and back to the start line.
