Brewing in the PA Wilds: Rosko’s Brew House
Part of the Brewing in the PA Wilds series
Built in a renovated historic home in Williamsport along the I-80 Frontier landscape of the PA Wilds, Rosko’s Brew House is a taproom and on-site brewery that focuses on high-quality beers and supporting the local community, commerce, and families.
Rosko’s serves a seasonal, rotating beer menu crafted with high-quality, fresh ingredients as well as locally sourced wines, canned cocktails, and more.
Rosko’s tap list is innovative, and the rotating list means that visitors won’t get bored regardless of how many times they come back to enjoy the drinks and atmosphere at Rosko’s Brew House. For the fall 2023 tap list, some of the selections include (of course) an Oktoberfest-style lager called “Das Brauhaus” and a Dunkel lager. You can also find interesting brews you might not encounter at other breweries, such as an Irish red ale and a Czech pale lager.
Rosko’s is a “brewery-first” establishment, which means they do not have a full kitchen. They do, however, serve snacks like soft pretzels that will keep your belly happy while tasting their craft beer selection, and they partner with local food trucks throughout the year.
The house that the brewery resides in was built in 1870 by one of Williamsport’s earliest architects, William Fink. At the time, the area was a marshy stream that ran through the property. Mr. Fink built a stone culvert to straddle the stream and built the house above it. The culvert can still be accessed today and is opened to the public occasionally throughout the year.
Today, the exterior of the building retains its original charm. When you enter the historic front door, note the brewery in the old parlor room on your right, the restored staircase to your front, and the original brick, shiplap, plaster, and window trims in the taproom to your left.
Unknown to the current owners at the time of purchase, William Fink was a renowned cider and wine maker. This means over 100 years ago brewing and fermentation was taking place in this exact location!
Indoor and outdoor seating is available at Rosko’s Brew Pub. They also offer the space for public and private events, such as Community Tap Nights, live events, and personal or company parties.
While “Rosko” is derived from a family nickname, Rosko’s Brew House embodies much more. Rosko’s core beliefs are Family, Fun, and Community. When you enjoy a Rosko’s brew, you are supporting your local community, commerce, and families. The taproom was built with love, sweat, and tears, and the beer is created with a strong appreciation of the fine details of craft brewing.
Rosko’s is active in the community and supports the local tourism and outdoor activities in the area.
