Mechanistic Brewing Company is a small family brewery in Clarion, near the Cook Forest and the Ancients landscape of the PA Wilds, with a focus on chemistry to recreate traditional beers as well as experiment with more modern beer styles while giving the community a place to gather.
Where does the word “mechanistic” come from? Maybe it’s best described by a sign in the brewery, which says “Mechanistic: 1) Beer as a mechanism to bring people together and building community 2) Beer + people = smile”
Beer, says the brewery, has been a mechanism to bring people together for millennia. Why not name the company after the function that good beer is the best at… making connections with other people.
“Our favorite thing is the sense of community and inclusion you provide – we love being able to walk up, have the whole family there, and enjoy all the different beers and local food,” says one reviewer on Mechanistic Brewing Company’s website. “We are always trying something new with the beers and they are all outstanding quality. So happy to have Mechanistic downtown!”
The outdoor seating space provides a comfortable area for visitors to gather in the nice weather, and they have an excellent view of downtown Clarion.
Mechanistic has several house beers on tap, along with others that rotate out occasionally to give guests something new to wet their whistle. Currently, Mechanistic Brewing is also offering The Wilds Are Calling Hazy IPA on tap, which was a collaboration with 17 other breweries in the PA Wilds region and gives back to the PA Wilds’ mission.
The brewery attempts to connect the community together and acts as a gathering space for other businesses and organizations. Throughout the year, Mechanistic Brewing offers pop-ups and food vendors. Organizations hold fundraisers there, entrepreneurs host yoga and art workshops, and farmers and artisans sell their products. They have their schedule of events listed on their website.
