About Cameron County
Known as the geocaching capital of the world, Cameron County is an outdoor paradise! Ninety-seven percent of the county is covered in pine and mixed hardwood forests. Its forests, rivers and lakes provide rich habitat for bald eagles, magnificent elk, and other woodland creatures great and small.
Nestled amongst the mountains and valleys in upper Cameron County is the beautifulSinnemahoning State Park. Not only an important travel-way for people, but a popular destination for animals as well. The park is home to bald eagles, bear and many other wildlife species including elk. The Wildlife Center at Sinnemahoning recently opened and features many interactive, educational opportunities for visitors of all ages to explore the Pennsylvania Wilds. Visit the warm and inviting eco-friendly designed building and discover the exciting activities including wildlife watching along with the upcoming exhibits expected in 2013.
With more caches than people, Cameron County is known as theGeocaching Capital of the World and some of the most beautiful and exciting geocaching locations can be found here. Geocaching is a modern-day treasure hunt using handheld GPS devices searching for caches, or hidden trinkets.
Cameron County Canoe & Kayak Classic is one of the largest downriver paddling events in the state. This 12-mile paddling challenge along the Driftwood Branch of the Sinnemahoning Creek attracts hundreds of paddlers with just as many spectators. Watch the 2012 event video
