Attractions

The 12,000 acre Allegheny Reservoir was created by the Kinzua Dam.  Located on Route 59, just east of the city of Warren, this flood control/hydro-electric dam was completed in 1965.  Visitors may view this engineering marvel first hand from a portion of its roadway or adjacent overlook area.  A marina just three miles from the dam, provides easy access to the waterway.

Breathtaking scenic views of the Allegheny Reservoir from the Rimrock Overlook is perfect for fall foliage viewing.  A series of wooden steps lead to a viewing area atop a large rock face.  For the mildly adventuresome, explore the area and see the mountain laurel in bloom in early June.  The trail is steep and difficult.

Warren County Winterfest is the largest winter event in the Pennsylvania Wilds region. Held at Chapman State Park in January of each year, the event features a variety of Winter outdoor activities for the whole family to enjoy including Jim Lobdell Memorial Sled Dog Races, Polar Bear Plunge, Snow Sculpture contest and more.
