About Jefferson County

With easy access from I-80 and routes 322, 36 and 28, Brookville is the perfect stopover spot.  Several restaurants, gas stations and hotels are open 24-hours.  From here, you will find fun things to do and see in every direction, including the “Weather Capital of the World”.

Small town charm is our specialty!  Unique shops and restaurants invite you to visit the historical Main Streets, meet some friendly faces and make memories that will last a lifetime.  Brockway is proud of its patriotic roots and celebrates the Fourth of July in a big way.

Clear Creek State Park provides ample opportunities for outdoor recreation including 25-miles of well-maintained trails for hiking, biking and horseback riding.  Located in the center of the park is an impressive group of enormous boulders created by glaciers.  This “rock city”, known as Beartown Rocks, is one of the area’s best kept secrets.

Known as the Weather Capital of the World, Punxsutawney, PA is charming little town decorated with 32 larger-than-life fiberglass statues, called Phantastic Phil.  You can get a map and visit each one scattered throughout the town.  On your way, visit Phil’s Burrow and meet the world famous weather prognosticator, Punxsutawney Phil and his family.  Stop at Gobbler’s Knob for a photo op where Phil makes his annual prediction every February 2nd.

BWP Bats manufactures the finest hardwood professional bats used by players including Johnny Damon, Justin Morneau and many more!  You can tour the facility and get your very own personalized bat!

One of the most scenic rail trails in all of Pennsylvania is the Clarion/Little Toby Rail Trail.  It stretches 18 miles from Ridgway to Brockway, winding along the Clarion River and Little Toby Creek.  You will enjoy spectacular river vistas, mountain scenery and wildlife.  The trail has an easy grade and is surfaced with crushed limestone.  The Jefferson County trailhead is located in Brockway at Taylor Park.
