Winslow Hill Elk Viewing Area
The most popular elk-viewing site in Pennsylvania, Winslow Hill provides two viewing areas with off-road parking. Listen for the famous bugling of the male elk during August-October, as the elk are in rut during this time of the year. Many trails and dirt roads are available for exploration. Wildlife includes white-tailed deer, black bear and fox. Wild Turkeys, Eastern Towhees and various songbirds are found throughout Winslow Hill. Respect private property and use caution while traveling. Elk and deer are abundant and unpredictable.
Winslow Hill Viewing Area also known as Dents Run Viewing Area, is the most visited elk viewing site with two established viewing areas with off-road parking. A handicapped area for parking provides special access to the viewing location. Portable sanitation facilities also are available, but do not have running water or safe drinking water. At the covered amphitheater, educational programs are presented during the fall. An education center with literature and displays of wildlife native to the area is staffed weekends starting in late August, and remains open until late October.
