Straub Brewery will host the PA Wilds’ regional launch for international award-winning author John Schlimm’s new book, MOONSHINE: A Celebration of America’s Original Rebel Spirit, at the Brewery’s iconic Eternal Tap (303 Sorg Street, St. Marys, PA) on Thursday, October 4, from 6:00 to 8:00 p.m.

The event is free and open to the public, and will include a book-signing and complimentary beer and moonshine samplings by both Straub Brewery and Chicken Hill Distillery.

Named by Liquor.com as one of the “9 New Cocktail Books You Should Read Now,” MOONSHINE is both a boozy history book and treasure trove of recipes. The consummate storyteller, John tells the rip-roaring history of the moonshiners as only he can followed by more than 100 recipes for infused moonshine and specialty moonshine cocktails, such as Moonshine Monkey, Dirt Road Colada, Lemongrass and Mint Mojito, and Smokey Mountain S’more.

A Harvard-trained educator, artist, and author of seventeen previous books, including his Christopher Award-winning memoir Five Years in Heaven, John lives in St. Marys, PA, in the heart of the PA Wilds. A fifth-generation member of the Straub family and a member of the corporation’s board of directors, John is also an adjunct professor in the Communication and the Arts Division at the University of Pittsburgh at Bradford.
