Endurance Challenges -- Hiking, Biking, Canoe & Kayaking
The Pennsylvania Wilds is home to some of the most important outdoor endurance challenges in the Eastern US. Coursing in and through our state parks, forest and magnificent vistas, biking, canoeing, kayaking and running events have established our part of Pennsylvania as a significant place for those who love the challenge of the outdoors…

April 20 Hyner View Trail Challenge & Hyner Ultra Challenge 50K, Hyner -- This trail challenge has over 4200 feet of elevation gain along one of PA's finest vistas!
April 21 Chinklacamoose Marathon, Clearfield -- Your choice of a full or half marathon coursing through central Clearfield County completed as an individual or relay team.
April 27 Ridgway YMCA Triathlon, Ridgway -- Participants will compete in a 5-mile run, 15-mile bike race, then a 9-mile canoe/kayak race down the scenic Clarion River.
May 18 Relay for Life of Clinton County, Lock Haven -- 24 hour event to celebrate cancer survivors, remember loved ones lost and fight back by raising awareness and funds.
May 18 Upper West Branch Triathlon, Curwensville Lake -- 4.8-mile run, 5-mile paddle (canoe or kayak), and 15-mile bike.
May 18 Fox Township Park Memorial Fund 5K Run & Walk, Kersey -- An Elk County Striders event.
May 26 Dahoga Dash 5K, Wilcox -- First race in the Elk County Striders Triple Crown Series (Elk County Classic 5K on July 13 and Lee Foster Memorial 5 Mile on September 7 complete the series). Course is fairly flat, out and back on a low traffic, part paved/part dirt road.
June 1 Rothrock Trail Challenge, Boalsburg -- Hyner's southern cousin. Voted by La Sportiva's Mountain Cup Series as one of the ten best trail races in the country. It's a 30K filled with awesome single track, elevation changes that will numb the legs, and hair-raising scrambles through boulders and cliffs. The PA Trail Dogs' apple didn't fall too far from the tree on this one. If you liked the Hyner, then you'll feel right at home in Rothrock!
June 1 God's Country Marathon & Half Marathon, Galeton -- Starting 1300 feet above sea level, runners will enjoy the 26.39 mile scenic tour of Potter County including Center Town Lake, Susquehannock State Forest and Denton Hill, finishing at the historic Potter County Courthouse.
June 7-9 Allegheny 100 Backpacking Challenge, Allegheny National Forest -- This is not a race but an endurance challenge for anyone who wants to test themselves. You hike with all your camping gear and food. There are three separate challenges: 25, 50 and 100 miles. This is a personal challenge, no awards or top prizes will be given. June 8 Millcreek Adventure Race, Brookville -- YMCA of Brookville presents the Millcreek Adventure Race consisting of the following: 8.5 mile run, 2 mile swim, 26 mile bike ride, 12 mile canoe, 11 mile orienteering and 9.5 mile run.
June 15 Joggin' with Jordan Memorial 10K Run/5K Run/5K Fun Walk, Warren -- An Elk County Striders event. Second race in the Warren County YMCA Series Cup (Diane Kelly Memorial 5K Run is March 16 and SuperKwik Challenge Half Marathon is October 12)
June 15 Fat Tire Challenge, Clear Creek State Park -- This 14 mile mountain bike challenge races through the gorgeous forest and mountain laurel fields. The trail offers many challenges including single track trails, rocky sections requiring unique riding skills and miles of continuous climbs. Part of the Bike-the-Wilds Points Series.
June 22 Great Island Triathlon, Lock Haven -- 23 mile course of paddle, pedal and run. The race includes a 3.5 mile paddle, a 15.5 mile bike ride and a 4 mile run. Do it yourself or put a team together!
June 22 Fox Township Bicentennial Half Marathon, Kersey -- An Elk County Striders event.
July 13 Elk County Classic 5K, Johnsonburg -- Second race in the Elk County Striders Triple Crown Series (Dahoga Dash 5K on May 26 and Lee Foster Memorial 5 Mile Run on September 7 complete the series)
July 20 Prowl the Sproul 10K, Hyner -- Presented by the PA Trail Dogs. Just may be the most challenging 10K around. It's three grueling miles up, followed by three and a half miles of blistering downhill. It's the baby sister of the Hyner Challenge.
July 28 PA Grand Canyon Marathon, Wellsboro -- Coursing along the west rim of the canyon featuring some of the most breathtaking views.
July 28 PA Grand Canyon Marathon, Wellsboro -- Make history by running in the first-ever PA Grand Canyon Marathon! This full 26.2 mile marathon takes runners along the beautiful West Rim of the Pine Creek Gorge for outstanding views of Pine Creek. There are only 500 spots available—don’t wait, register today!
August 2-3 Kinzua Tango, Warren -- A challenging course with over 100 miles of running, biking, swimming, orienteering and canoeing. End the race with food, music and awards.
August 10 Lee Foster Memorial 5K, St. Marys -- An Elk County Striders Event.
August 10 Try All By Fire, Renovo -- Not a race, but a journey calling people seeking adventure. There is a finish line - the rest is up to you!
August 17 David Hutton Memorial 5K Run & 2 Mile Walk, Emporium -- An Elk County Striders event. Benefits Cameron County High School Track Scholar Athletes. DavidHuttonMemorial.org
August 24 Dam Scramble, Curwensville Lake -- Choose the shorter 11-mile course or longer 18-mile course. Enjoy a challenging but rewarding “scramble” around the lake! This challenge is open to both hikers and runners, however, this will not be your average “walk in the woods” so please only attempt this if you are sufficiently trained.
August 24 Baker Trail UltraChallenge -- The 50-mile Baker Trail is a rugged hiking trail coursing through the woods, over rocks, across creeks, and up and down hills, and along some paved and dirt roads.
August 31 Dairy Dash 5K Run/1 Mile Walk, Mansfield -- Run or walk for two amazing causes: in remembrance of the late Shon Seeley of Troy, Pennsylvania and for an organization that he held dear--the Pennsylvania Association for Sustainable Agriculture (PASA). This run takes place at the Lambs Creek Recreation Area in Mansfield, PA, on an NCAA Certified Cross Country Trail Course.
September 7 Lee Foster Memorial 5K, St. Marys -- Final race in the Elk County Striders Triple Crown Series (Dahoga Dash 5K on May 26 and Elk County Classic 5K on July 13 complete the series).
September 7-8 Pine Creek Challenge, Wellsboro -- Are you a risk taker who’s always up for a new test? If so, try the Pine Creek Challenge this September on the beautiful Pine Creek Rail Trail. Choose from a 100K or a 100 mile run along 50 miles of the upper Pine Creek Gorge—more commonly referred to as the PA Grand Canyon.

September 21 Peanut Butter Festival Mountain Bike Race, New Bethlehem -- This race will put your mountain biking skills to the test. The course is very challenging with several obstacles including stream crossings, a tunnel, steep downhill grades, finishing with an uphill sprint. Part of the Bike-the-Wilds Points Series.
September 28 Bald Eagle Megatransect -- **SOLD OUT** It’s a 25.5 mile race that offers some very diverse terrain throughout Bald Eagle State Forest. **Experienced and trained runners only!
October 12 Dam Darkness Trail Challenge, Curwensville Lake -- Challenge yourself on 7-miles of trails... in the dark! Glow sticks and reflective materials will guide you to the finish.
October 12 SuperKwik Challenge Half Marathon, Warren -- An Elk County Striders event. Third race of the Series Cup (Diane Kelly Memorial 5K Run & Fun Walk is March 16 and YMCA 5K, 10K & Fun Walk is June 15). Visit website for more information.
October 13 Green Monster Trail Challenge, Wellsboro -- This running event will make even the scariest monsters under your bed seem harmless! Described as “one ugly mountain race,” participants can choose a 25K trail, featuring a 4,000 feet total ascent, or a 50K trail with 7,000 feet total ascent.

October 20 Tiadaghton Trail Challenge 20k -- Reverse course from spring event. Challenging half marathon trail course in the Tiadaghton and Bald Eagle State Forests.
